COMMON QUESTIONS
What services do you not provide?
While asked frequently about these services, I do not offer them: psychological evaluations (please contact a Psychologist), prescriptions (Please contact either a Psychiatrist or your Doctor), children actively involved in custody changes or litigation, court testimony, disability evaluations and/or filling out paperwork for a leave from work and emotional support pet documentation. If you have a question on the services I do or do not provide please contact me.

How do I setup a new client appointment?
Please send me an email (jessicaderxlcsw@gmail.com), or use the contact form, with the following information: name, date of birth, insurance name, if you want virtual or in person, the reason you are wanting to start therapy and your availability during the week.

What happens in therapy stays in therapy?
On a whole yes. What you say in my office stays in my office, which is called confidentiality: the restriction of your private information. There are exceptions to confidentiality, meaning under certain circumstances I may have to share your private information and/or what you say in therapy. Here are some examples:
-
Harm to self or others.
-
A child under the age of 18 or older adult in care is in danger.
-
Your files are subpoenaed by the court.
-
You experience a health emergency during a session.
We will discuss these examples in more detail during your first session. Should you wish to release any information about your session we can also discuss that process.

Do you offer virtual sessions?
I offer virtual sessions through a HIPAA compliant site for ages 13 and up. In general, I recommend in person sessions for anyone under 18. Please be in a private setting free of distraction with a strong internet connection. Should payment be required, a Square invoice will be sent to your email address the morning of the session; payment is due the day of the session. If you need to switch your in person session to virtual for any reason just let me know.

What if I need my records?
Your personal mental health records can be requested from me and will be provided promptly unless there is concern these records will cause harm. Please request a form and note the fees listed in the informed consent. Please be careful about giving out your mental health records, as your information will no longer be confidential once you release these records to another party.
Mental health records are confidential and protected by HIPAA regulations and will not be released without either a court-ordered subpoena signed by a judge or a valid, written Release of Information signed by the legal guardian of record. Records cannot be released to CASA, attorneys, school personnel, spouses, or any other person without a signed release of information.
If you have a complaint about access of psychological records or violations call 1-800-821-3205 or https://bhec.texas.gov/how-to-file-a-complaint.
